JACAJmo se was a multimedia exhibition held 2001 in Croatia, Europe. It was a part of International Museum Day (IMD). What is IMD? – it is an international day a celebration that held every year on or around 18th of May, coordinated by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). The event highlights a specific theme that changes every year and that is at the heart of the international museum community’s preoccupations.

The IMD provides the opportunity for museum professionals to meet the public and alert them as to the challenges that museums face. Indeed, following the definition of museums provided by ICOM, a museum is a non-profit, permanent institution in the service of society and its development, open to the public, which acquires, conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits the tangible and intangible heritage of humanity and its environment for the purposes of education, study and enjoyment. International Museum Day therefore serves as a platform to raise public awareness on the role museums play in the development of society today, on an international level.

Each year different institution got privilege of organizing such event in Croatia. Theme for 2001 was a ‘sport’ and Croatian Sports Museum got opportunity to host International Museum Day. Slogan “JACAJmo se” seems most appropriate as the one of already in service since 1874 in Croatia better known as part of “Hrvatski Sokol” ‘greetings’ (eng. Croatian Falcon). “Sokol” (eng. Falcon) movement in Europe began 1862 in ‘Prague‘ and was formed by Miroslav Tyrš promoting exercise and expansion of national consciousness among the Slavic people. Social class who wore Sokol movement was the part of the liberal bourgeois class who opposed denationalization.

JACAJmo se grew from just a simple exhibition to multimedia event on the end of 2000 when at time our studio in Europe “infozone” was elected to design and print all materials. Our team became a Co-Author of the exhibition overcoming it’s basic role which turns to be a large project hosting 30+ institutions gathering international character. This was a birth of patented concept that our studios still offer as service to clients.

Primary goal of drawing attention and returning public and youth to museum and it’s institutions were overwhelmed. In first week of exhibition we draw more public attention then any event that year hosted in Croatia. Crown of the event/action “JACAJmose” was ‘The fitness musical spectacle’. Closing ceremony resulted with 5,000+ visitors celebrating joyful and positive vibes. Sport clubs, youths including disabled and special need individuals came out to display their achievements and gather with all children and families involved in event/action “JACAJmo se” that in total lasted four weeks. “The fitness musical spectacle” was hosted in Dom Sportova – an indoor sporting arena, located in Zagreb, Croatia. JACAJmo se gain reputation as the most successful event in Croatia for year 2001. Raised from exhibition to an multiple multimedia events, action “JACAJmo se” being selected as ‘The Event of the Year’ and promised to be displayed in “The Olympic MuseumLausanne, Switzerland.

Since 2001 project popular called No.6 raised attention and nearly got forgotten. This number representing 6th time that Croatia as country contribute to International Museum Day. That is why myself decided again at my expense to make this multimedia event available for generations to come as promised to Mr. Zdenko Jajcevic, director of Croatian Sports Museum.
